Late October to early November 2012, the Isang Yun International Music Competition will be arranged as Isang Yun Cello Competition (registration until the end of August 2012). The Isang Yun International Music Competition, a competition of the performance of classical music, has been arranged since 2003 in Yun's home town Tongyeong in the southern Gyeongnam province in South Korea. The formerly so-called "Gyeongnam International Music Competition" is an annual competition, alternating each year one instrument: cello, violin or piano. The first prize of the competition in 2003 was approximately $ 25,000. Members of the jury in 2003 under the chairmanship of the German cellist Siegfried Palm were musicians of international reputation as Myung-Wha Chung, David Geringas, Walter Grimmer, Arto Noras, etc.

At the port city Tongyeong, the home-town of Isang Yun, also takes place the Tongyeong International Music Festival (TIMF), this year in the second half of March. Artistic director of the festival is Alexander Liebreich, the managing committee is led by Kim Sngkn. Works by Isang Yun form an integral part of the repertoire of this festival.
